Tequila House!

The one and only Mexican food restaurant in Kyiv
Eve and Alicia
Kristine and Christine

I had a great time eating good Mexican food last night.  I thought it would be a tortilla wrapped up in Velvetta cheese and smothered with a tomato paste.  But it was so much better!!  And the margaritas were SOOOO good!

In case you needed one.....

One of the many wedding parties
This is the wedding mullet (she was in the wedding)

It's tradition in Kyiv for a wedding party to go to each historical site in the city and take a picture in front of it after the ceremony.  So some of the teachers and I go "weddin' watching"  on the weekends.  We sit in a little cafe across the street from St. Andrew's, drink a beer, and watch the wedding parties.  Across the street is Andrew's Decent, one of the oldest streets in Kyiv.  This is where you can go and buy cheap souvenirs.  You can also buy the amazing "boob pillow".  Let me know if you want one, I can start taking orders now and have them to you by Christmas.  It is the perfect gift for that special someone.  It is a great conversation starter and would probably look good in any one's home.  :)

Pirogova

Pirogova is an outdoor historical architectural museum.  It is on the outskirts of the city and has been in the news because of arson.  The land is prime real estate land but of course the museum isn't sealing.  So the architectural buildings have been mysteriously catching fire.

"Business in the front, party in the back!!"

I can't take credit for these great mullet pictures.  My friend Alicia took them.  But this terrible hair style is EVERYWHERE is Kyiv.  And who know that there were so many different kinds!!

There is the young mullet:

And my personal favorite...

The Saints in Kyiv

Here are a couple of the pictures I have taken of the BEAUTIFUL churches.  I love walking through the city and seeing the gold domes.  I haven't had a chance to go into any of the buildings because women have to cover their heads and I never have my scarf.  But once I remember to bring it with me, I'll take pics and post them.  There are many more cathedrals around the city.  I just haven't found them yet.

This is my entry way...don't be jealous of the rug.

I live on the south side of the city.  My apartment isn't huge but it's perfect for me.  It's very close to school.  I just take a 10 minute bus ride to get there.  The city's largest park is a 5 minute walk away and the city center is very easy to get to.  It's on the 5th floor and Ukrainians don't believe in elevators if the building doesn't have at least 6 stories.  So I get my work out every time I leave.

Christmas came early!

It's been almost a month to the day I moved to Kyiv and I finally got internet!!!  So I can finally fill you guys in on what's been happening here!  I will try to update this blog regularly but I won't make any promises.
